Hi everyone! I hope you are all safe and well and I hope you are enjoying your learning about the book ‘Wonder’. Don’t forget, if you can, watch the film and enjoy reading the book! 

English – LO: To use devices to build cohesion between paragraphs in explanatory texts.

Today, you are going to write the rest of your argument. Use the opening and conclusion from yesterday and don’t forget to think about the following:

  • Passive voice (at least once)
  • Comparisons throughout
  • Cohesive devices
  • Formal language
  • Paragraphs – clear views

Blue Group – Today, you are going to complete the final part of your ‘Mystery Challenge’.

SPaG – LO: To edit and improve writing.

Today, you need to edit and improve the sentence below using the following prompts:

  • Add and adjective
  • Change the adverb
  • Move the main clause to the start of the sentence
  • Change the verb

Yesterday, Jessica walked slowly to the shops for some milk and bread.

D and T – LO: To identify pros and cons of a specific product.

Today, I would like you to find three different puppets and either get a picture, or draw a picture of these. For example, a puppet on a stick/spoon (A), a sock puppet (B), a dummy puppet (C)

Once you have done this, you need to then think of, or research, 3 benefits and 3 negatives of using each puppet. Try to think ‘out of the box’ and be creative when doing so. We are then going to decide which we prefer and start to design a puppet of our own.

Reading – Continue reading the book of your choice but in between each page, I would like you to do 10 star jumps. Once you have read for 20 minutes, you need to complete a reading response activity in your reading response journal.

TTRS – Log into Times Tables Rockstars and complete at least two ‘Studio’ games. Let’s see who can move up to the next status and achieve their next certificate!

PSHE – Empathy – Watch the video below 

How do you think Lubna showed empathy throughout the whole story. There are at least 5 different ways that she did this. Write them down and think about how and why she did this. Was it to make herself feel better? Was it to reassure other people/things? Was it because she had to?
