Tuesday 9th June 2020

Hi everyone! Thankyou to those children who have sent me some ‘Rockslam’ challenges and special well done to Abbi, Joshua S, Theo and Isabella for your impressive scores. I hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday! 🙂

English – LO: To develop an opening for a balanced argument which uses formal language.

Watch the video below for today’s English lesson.

Parents and Carers, please be aware, the videos are posted to YouTube, and linked to the website for the children to use.  Due to the restrictions on the YouTube page, we cannot control the adverts which appear at the end of the videos. Please supervise your child, as you see necessary, when watching the clips.  Many Thanks.

Today, you are going to write your own opening for a balanced argument. Remember to include the following:

  • Factual information
  • Passive voice (at least once)
  • Formal language

Maths – LO: To solve problems involving the calculation and conversion of time.

Watch the video below for today’s Maths starter and main lesson and don’t forget to join in with the activities.

Complete the task below for the group you are in. Don’t forget to show your working out.

Red and Orange Group

Yellow and Green Group

Blue Group – Continue the ‘mystery’ activity that was sent via email. You are doing a great job with these so far!

SPaG – LO: To spell words from the Year 5/6 spelling list.

Today, I would like you to use the activity generator again. I would like you to roll a dice and flip a coin. This will then select an activity for you to do which I would like you to do whilst spelling out one of your spellings. Do this until you have spelt all of your spellings!

Competition Time!

Read the information about the competition below and don’t forget to email me your entries!

PE – LO: To develop skills that will support net/wall games.

Warm up – Watch the video and join in with the warm up

(Q) Can you increase the distance you place the socks away and still keep your balance?

(Q) How many times can you place the socks to you right and left in 30 seconds?

Remember – To keep your feet off the floor and keep your balance.

Main – Use the diagram below to help you set up your own game. You need to roll a ball (it can be any kind of ball eg. tennis ball, basketball) to a wall and see if you can get the bounce back to go through two markers. If it is easy, make the markers closer together; if it is too hard, move them further apart whilst you practise.

Now take away the markers and put a bottle of water there. See if you can roll the ball to the wall and get it to hit the bottle of water as it rolls away.

TTRS – Today, you need to work on your ‘Garage’ set on Times Tables Rockstars. Remember, these are your times tables that I have set based on your colour groups.

PSHE – Empathy – Watch the video below

I want you to think about how this story of autism and kindness relates to our theme of ‘empathy’. Create a spider diagram based on how this video shows empathy and how it makes you feel.
