English – LO: To develop a story based on ‘Wonder’ which uses cohesive devices.

Watch the video below for today’s English lesson.

Parents and Carers, please be aware, the videos are posted to YouTube, and linked to the website for the children to use.  Due to the restrictions on the YouTube page, we cannot control the adverts which appear at the end of the videos. Please supervise your child, as you see necessary, when watching the clips.  Many Thanks.

SPaG – LO: To spell words from the year 5/6 spelling list.

Today, I would like you to use the activity generator again. I would like you to roll a dice and flip a coin. This will then select an activity for you to do which I would like you to do whilst spelling out one of your spellings. Do this until you have spelt all of your spellings!

PE – LO: To develop strength, control and balance.

Watch the video below and join in throughout the video.

Yoga helps to develop strength and balance. I want you to think about the benefits of yoga. How can taking part in yoga strengthen your physical health? How can it strengthen your emotional health? Once you have completed the yoga session, make notes on your thoughts about the above.

History – LO: To recognise differences in living conditions during the Victorian era.

This week, we are going to continue learning about the Victorians.

The Victorians lived in a variety of ways depending on their income and therefore whether they were rick or poor.

I want you to sort the following living conditions into the venn diagram below.

  • Some families lived in small houses with several family members sharing the same bedroom.
  • Back-to-back houses were built in rows.
  • Houses had polished wooden floors and beautifully carved furniture.
  • Servants or kitchen staff lived in servants’ quarters in their houses.
  • There were no toilets in the houses.
  • Clothes were washed by hand using soap and water.
  • It was the start of the Industrial Revolution so there was an increase in jobs and employment, particularly for those who had skills.
  • Men wore suits, waistcoats and top hats.
  • Every member of the family needed to work.
  • Women wore long dresses with petticoats.
  • Clothes were often badly fitted, dirty or worn out.
  • Children would have toys such as rocking horses, dolls’ houses or train sets.
  • Lessons in school focused on reading, writing and arithmetic.
