Wednesday 24th June

Good morning Hedgehogs.  I have been really enjoying the story of ‘Whatever Next’ and it was great to read your speech bubbles yesterday.

You are doing such a good job with using tens and ones to make teen numbers in your number work too.

I am super impressed! Have a fantastic day today.

HEALTHY HAPPY HEDGEHOGS

  • Continue watching the story of The Rabbit Listened to the end of the story.
  • Talk to an adult about what the rabbit did to help Taylor. How was the rabbit different to the other animals?

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE – Discuss the picture of the day from Pobble 365; Jumbled

Talk about the bullet points below with an adult.

  • What can you see in today’s picture? The picture is called ‘Jumbled’.
  • What do you think jumbled means?…  It means that things are all mixed up.
  • Have you ever got something jumbled?

LITERACY

  • Share the story of Whatever Next by Jill Murphy up to 5 minutes.

  • How did Baby Bear describe the moon? Can you remember any other facts about the moon from last week’s video?
  • Baby Bear said the moon was boring! He said that there were no trees or people. When people go on a trip or journey they often write a postcard to tell somebody at home about it.
  • Watch today’s video to see me write my postcard.

  • Write a postcard to Mum from Baby Bear telling her what it is like on the moon. Remember to start with ‘To Mum’ and finish with ‘From Baby Bear’. Draw a picture of the moon on the other side of your postcard!

  • Write a sentence to match the picture at the end of today’s video. (She had a red hood).

MATHS

  • I am thinking of a number that is in between 13 and 15. What number am I?
  • Watch the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

  • Can you remember what the Hungry Caterpillar ate on each day of the week? Practise saying the days of the week aloud with an adult.
  • Log in to Purple Mash and complete your 2Do activity by drawing one thing that the Hungry Caterpillar ate on each day of the week.

PSED

  • Share the story ‘My Name is not Refugee’ by Kate Milner.

  • What would you take if you were leaving your house and could only take what you could carry?
  • Think about the boy in the story.  He has a lot to learn in his new home.  How do you think he would feel when he arrives in his new home?
  • Imagine that you were the boy in the story. Pack a bag of things from your house that you would take with you to remind you of home. When you get to your new home it will be very different to where you used to live and it would be hard to understand what people were saying. How can people help you feel welcome?
  • Log in to Purple Mash and complete your 2Do activity.
