Tuesday 9th June

Good morning Hedgehogs. I hope you all had a fantastic start to our virtual school week.  Your posters to help find Little Red Riding Hood were fantastic. This week we are learning to develop our empathy skills and today is Empathy Day. There are lots of exciting activities happening live throughout the day on the Empathy Lab website.  I have included the link below and if you get chance why not follow the link and join in with one of the live activities. https://www.empathylab.uk/newpage0198f816

HEALTHY HAPPY HEDGEHOGS

  • At a time when we are all missing our friends think about what it means to be a friend to somebody. If you are a friend, what qualities do you need?

COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE – Discuss the picture of the day from Pobble 365; The Old Railroad

Talk about the bullet points below with an adult.

  • What can you see in today’s picture? The picture is called ‘The Old Railroad’.
  • The railroad has fallen into disrepair. That means that it cannot be used anymore and nobody is looking after it. Where do you think the trains on the railroad used to travel to?

LITERACY

  • The posters that you made yesterday to help find Little Red Riding Hood were amazing. Guess what? I have some good news for you! Read the newspaper article below with an adult.

Who are the good characters in the story?

Who are the evil characters?

Can you tell me why?

Little Red Riding Hood thought the wolf was kind at first. Why did she think that? Was he kind?

  • Owls and Rabbits – Draw a picture of an evil character from the story. Write a sentence underneath the picture to say why that character is evil. Remember to tell me who the character is and why you think they are an evil character using evidence from the story.
  • Foxes and Badgers – Draw a picture of an evil character from the story. Write a sentence underneath your picture to tell me who the evil character is.
