FRIDAY 3rd APRIL 2020

It is Friday already! What a busy week you have had. I have enjoyed seeing your incredible work on Purple Mash and on the photos that have been sent in.  I hope you have been enjoying our work on magic beans and Jack and the Beanstalk.

It was so lovley to chat to so many of you on the phone yesterday. If I didn’t manage to catch you I will try again soon!  Lots of you said that you have been reading different story books from home. Why not send me an email with a book reccomendation so that I can share it with your friends!

Have some time by yourself to look out of your bedroom window for a couple of minutes.  How many things can you see that are alive? This could be plants, animals or people.  Draw a picture of the things that you can see!

Sometimes when people get older they lose some of their memories. Let’s help them make some new memories by sending the residents at Olive House some beautiful art work from the children in Hedgehog Class.

I would like you to make a Sprint time picture and send me a photograph of your work so that I can print it off and send it to Olive House. You could use paint, collage, felt tips or crayons…. anything that you can find at your house! Remember to take your time and make sure that it is your best work.

Write a sentence to describe what you can see and discuss the following questions;

      • A dilemma is a problem. What problem do you think Superman could have?
      • How would he solve the problem? Would he use any of his super powers?

LITERACY– Retell the story of The Gingerbread Man using the story map and puppets you have made this week but stop just before the Gingerbread Man meets the fox.

Today you will think of a new ending for the story.

You could change the character that the Gingerbread Man meets in the river. Or you could change what happens when he meets the fox? Get creative and let your imagination help you!

Owls and Rabbits – Draw a picture of the new ending for the story in your book and write a sentence underneath to tell me your new story ending. Remember to use your phonics to write your sentence and have a go at spelling the words yourself.

  • Owls and Rabbits – Give you story map a title and write a label under each picture.

Find three different containers and some small objects (e.g. Lego pieces, pasta, stones)

Set a timer for one minute. Use a knife and fork (no fingers) to fill one of the containers. Repeat for each of the containers. Count how many objects you put in each container.

  • Foxes and Badgers – Can you work out which one had the most/fewest?
  • Owls and Rabbits – Can you find the total of all three groups of objects?

Discuss the key questions; How would the old lady feel when her gingerbread man runs away? What did she shout to him as he ran away? If she wants to find him, how could she describe him?
