Welcome to Acorn Class – (Y3 & Y4)

In Acorn Class, our teacher is Miss Pilling.

Throughout the year we will share all our exciting learning on this class page… keep checking back to see if you can spot yourself.

We deliver a theme based curriculum through which the children learn National Curriculum skills, using an exciting theme to create interest and enjoyment. Each half term, the theme will change to ensure all children are engaged in stimulated learning tasks.  To find out more, click on the link…

Year 3/4 Long Term Plan

Iron Man Invasion!…

We had a great time developing our learning across a host of different subjects based on our English text ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes.

The Great Plague… with a visit from Sir William Petty too!

Acorn Class had an interesting visitor from the 16th Century stop by their class this week! Sir William Petty told countless recounts from the time of ‘The Great Plague’. Everyone enjoyed looking at the replica artefacts that Sir William brought with him – they especially enjoyed the chance to take on the role as a ‘Plague Doctor’.

Arts Award News…

The children in Acorn Class are all working towards their Arts Award. Year 3 children are developing their skills around research and techniques as part of their Discover Award whilst Year 4 children are working towards their Explore Award.

Weekly Events…

  • Our class has a swimming lesson every Monday afternoon.  All children need appropriate swimwear and a towel.  Children with long hair need a swimming cap which can be purchased from the leisure centre at a cost of £3.50.
  • Mathematics homework is set every Thursday … please help your child to return it by the following Wednesday.
  • At the start of each half term, theme homework is sent home.  This is a list of suggested activities which link to our work in class that half term – please feel free to think of your own for your child to link in with our theme and ask your child to share these with us in school.  There are prizes awarded to the children who put in the most effort with their homework!
  • Book bags need to be in school every day.

If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to come in and speak to us before school on the playground or afterschool at home time.
