Curriculum

We deliver a theme based curriculum through which the children learn National Curriculum skills, using an exciting theme to create interest and enjoyment. Each half term, the theme will change to ensure all children are engaged in stimulated learning tasks.  To find out more, click on the link…

Roman Invasion!…

Last half term, it appears that the Romans invaded St Saviour’s! What a fantastic assembly Acorn Class, huge well done!

The children all enjoyed performing their very own class assembly based on the Romans and to help them prepare, they took a trip to Bacup Library where they researched even more about the Romans, looked at Roman artefacts and even made their very own helmet. Take a look at the photos below to see just how much fun they truly had!

 

Arts Award News…

The children in Acorn Class are all working towards their Arts Award. Year 3 children have worked hard all year to develop their skills around research and techniques a part of their Discover Award, whereas Year 4 children have been working towards their Explore Award. All of the children in Acorn Class have engaged extremely positively with their Arts Award portfolios and we cannot wait to invite you in to school for a special presentation evening to see all of their amazing work on display!   • Our class has a swimming lesson every Monday afternoon.  Boys need to have swimming trunks – not shorts.  Girls need a costume and swimming cap which can be purchased from the leisure centre at a cost of £3.50.  The children need to bring a towel as well.
  • Mathematics homework is set every Thursday … please help your child to return it by the following Wednesday.
  • At the start of each half term, theme homework is sent home.  This is a list of suggested activities which link to our work in class that half term – please feel free to think of your own for your child to link in with our theme and ask your child to share these with us in school.  There are prizes awarded to the children who put in the most effort with their homework!
  • Book bags need to be in school every day.

If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to come in and speak to us before school on the playground or afterschool at home time.
